i know he was baiting me to message him. But i did it anyway.
"if you’d actually watched my video instead of blindly trolling it, you would see that my atheism has nothing to do with carl sagan or richard dawkins or the big bang or any scientific anything. period. I merely label myself as an "atheist" because i don’t fear the implications of being one without the church, one without God. Since people keep saying "oh, atheism is such a bad word, let’s call us something better sounding, like ‘brights’ or ‘humanist’ ". Fuck that. The word means what it means. Everyone knows what it means. It means I do not follow an established religion. I do not believe in a God or gods. I do not tithe. I do not pray. I do not read and blindly follow the instructions of any book, holy or otherwise. There are no miracles. There are no demi-gods. There are no super powers. There is no before-life. There is no after-life.
None of these things involve needing to believe and/or pretending to know what happened before recorded history or what will happen after.
You can come up with whatever definition of atheism you want. You can repeat it to yourself all you want, that won’t make it true. Atheism is about free-thinking. It’s about choosing to make your own decision about what you believe to be true. And yes. It comes down to belief. It comes down to faith. So if your problem is that i have faith in my senses and my own logic and thoughts, well. I don’t know what you expect me to think about how you function.. you’re telling me you’ve read and understand everything there is to possibly know about physics and biology? Every theory anyone has ever had about the origin of the universe and you’ve come to the conclusion that everyone is completely wrong? Where are your theories? Where is the math to back it up? It sure is easy to say “you’re wrong”. It’s a lot fucking harder to explain why you’re right.
Oh and posting other people’s videos about why other people are wrong is pathetic. You are pathetic. You make me proud to call myself an atheist.”
re: The Ultimate Answer
I often hear the phrase “there are reasonable christians out there.” or something similar. “You’re just talking to all to stupid ones” is also common.
Atheists often ask the same questions to christians, to which they receive many similar answers, occasionally slightly odd or horribly frightening ones, but the atheist is never satisfied. This is because, to the christian, the atheist is not asking a question, merely stating an answer: “Why is being gay wrong?” Or, to more clearly illustrate my point “___________, therefore homosexuality is wrong.” (i will compare this to the number ” 2 “) answer a: “It is written in the bible’ therefore homosexuality is wrong.” ( 2 = 2 ). answer b: “Gays are giving into their lustful nature, and lust is a sin, therefore homosexuality is wrong.” ( 1 + 1 = 2 ) answer c: God wishes to protect the sanctity of marriage, a holy creation of His which began with Adam and Eve. This is purely between a man and a woman, as stated in Genesis 2:22. To be a homosexual is to upset an essential pillar in the circle of life, procreation! ( x + 12 = 2x + (16 - 6) // x = 2 ). No matter how elaborate or interconnected with other, perhaps more positive, beliefs the reasoning becomes, the atheist’s true problem is still with the answer itself. “Being gay is wrong”.
Homosexuality is touched only very briefly upon in the bible, however 2 Timothy 3:16 states “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”. That means ALL of it. Including Leviticus 18:22 - “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.” The atheist’s true intention is to call the christians bluff, and force them into some kind of faith breaking spiral that might somehow undo years and years of indoctrination and “bible-thumping”, but this rarely occurs. 2 = 2 is usually unacceptable reasoning (the sky is blue because it is blue) and the atheist commonly wins the hand, but the true christian is never fazed, for he already has all the answers. His faith is unquestionable. God hath provided the answers, so there MUST be a good reasoning for it. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn’t. A good christian will provide some sort of reasoning but will also relay the fact that God is all knowing, all powerful, all loving. He has a very good reason, it’s just that none of us have been able to discern that reason quite yet. Until that day we will continue to uphold His Word and recognize it as the truth, the way, and the life.
Douglas Adams makes a pass at this in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. A super computer is invented to provide the ultimate answer. It produces the number 42. The main character is eventually is forced into providing an answer: how many roads must a man walk down? Although this seems to make a very good question to which the answer appears acceptable, the whole idea is absurd to absolutely everyone.
The idea of the “ultimate answer” is absurd to me. This is a heavy reasoning behind my Atheism. I have experienced many things I perceived to be God. None of these things ever confirmed any passage in any bible or holy book. Perhaps some unfathomable spirt exists that occasionally heals headaches and sprained ankles, but it is unreasonable to believe that this entity possessed 40 or so men 2000 - 6000 years ago in order to write his autobiography.
if you haven’t seen this movie, please go watch it now. It’s on netflix instant. This is my movie recommendation for the day.

Star Power of the Holy Bible
When 100 Amazon customers review: The Holy Bible: King James Version, we get a glimpse into what it looks like when satire has no bounds.
You do not get to bitch about how hard it is to be a Christian and how you are attacked for you beliefs in America. No, just no. That would be like me saying, “Oh it is so hard to be white, we are so discriminated against.”
If you want to really experience some hardship try and be an out of the closet atheist for a week. That’s some real discrimination. You might as well be a black man in texas in the 50’s.

What’s the modern translation for “a beast … out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns… like a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion” ?
And no, i’m not an atheist. I’m an anti-theist. And why don’t you face me like an internetizen instead of hiding behind this anonymity. What’s the worst i could do? TYPE LOUDLY AT YOU?
